NAND Flash Products from STMicroelectronics

STMicroelectronics introduces two families of NAND Flash products. The SP (small page: 528 bytes/264 words per page) and the LP (large page: 2kbytes/ 1k words per page). The SP is available from 128MBit to 512Mbit. The LP is being introduced in 2005, with 1Gbit and 2Gbits available now. The LP family will cover densities from 512Mb to 8Gb by the end of 2005.

NAND cell is about half the size of a NOR cell and its production process is simpler. NAND devices offer higher densities on the same die size which results in cost savings for a wide range of customers.

Because NAND Flash offers higher densities and performances at lower cost, it is ideal for multimedia system applications which demand higher data storage. NAND Flash is used in applications such as 3G mobile phones, digital cameras and camcorders, PDAs, MP3 players, digital consumer equipment and removable storage media such as USB disk and Flash cards. STMicroelectronics' NAND Flash NAND Flash products are designed to meet the needs of a large and growing range of applications requiring a wide spectrum of densities (128Mbit up to 8Gbit and above), different page sizes (528byte/264word and 2112byte/1056 word with a modular interface), density-independent footprint, 1.8 and 3V power supplies and an extensive packaging roadmap.
