Program Updated With Searchable Tool Offering Engineering
Database Access For Outsourcing Requirements
Melville,
New York - June 10, 2003 - Nu Horizons Electronics
Corp. (NASDAQ:NUHC), a leading distributor of high technology
active components, today announced the expansion of its
Design Consultant Program, which offers system and board-level
design solutions through third-party engineering design
company alliances. The expansion includes a web-based
searchable database tool created to provide enhanced customer
outsourcing services and solutions predicated as a result
of market demands.
As
a result of current business environments where engineering
staffs are lean, time-to-market pressures have forced
outsourcing non-core competencies to become more and more
attractive to customers. The expansion of Nu Horizons
Design Consultant Program to include a new online searchable
database of over 100 design consultants provides a customer
with a simplified, yet comprehensive, outsourcing solution
alternative. This database tool can be viewed by either
criteria of expertise or geographic region, in addition
to 'key-word' searched by potential customers for matches
against any participating consultant's core competency,
manufacturer certification and areas of specialty. Companies
utilizing this search tool will also gain immediate access
to a consultant or consulting firm's contact information,
design experience, and their major areas of strengths,
knowledge, and device usage.
"The
Design Consultant Program Nu Horizons adopted two years
ago has resulted in an elite network built upon our strongest
independent and national design consultants in over 25
U.S. and Canadian markets," explains Dave Bowers,
executive vice president of sales and marketing of Nu
Horizons. "With the addition of our searchable web-based
consultant database, our customers can now derive significant
advantages, including rapid access to a myriad of expert
design resources. These value offerings enable Nu Horizons
to provide the highest level of unparalleled support for
our customer's future development initiatives."
