New York - October 22, 2003 - Nu Horizons Electronics
Corp. (NASDAQ:NUHC), a leading distributor of high technology
active components, today announced that the Company is
first distributor to be globally certified as an Authorized
ChipCorder® Pre-Recording Service Provider by Winbond
Electronics Corporation of America, a leading supplier
of semiconductor solutions to the consumer, computer,
communications and electronics products markets.
Winbond's
ChipCorder IC's are ideal for a broad spectrum of markets
and applications, including consumer, security, industrial
and automotive, requiring voice capture and playback,
voice annunciations of prompts/alerts and multi-language
personalization of electronic products. Because the chips
utilize a cost-effective non-volatile analog format, they
can be individually pre-recorded with specific voice prompts
and offer a wide range of recording durations (from 10
seconds to 16 minutes). However, applications requiring
large volumes of chips can result in a time consuming
or labor intensive effort. Establishing certified pre-recording
service providers offers an optimal solution to customers
who recognize the superior value of a ChipCorder solution,
but don't have the infrastructure to do the recording
themselves.
