Nu
Horizons Electronics Corp. and Logic Product Development
Expand Global Partnership
Agreement
Strategic
Expansion Offers Highly Integrated Embedded Computing Solutions for Customers
in the Medical, Industrial and Consumer Markets
Minneapolis,
MN and Melville, NY- June 6, 2005 - Logic Product Development (Logic), a leading
embedded computing solutions provider and world-class product development services
company; and Nu Horizons Electronics Corp. (NASDAQ:NUHC), a leading distributor
of high technology active components, systems and displays; today announced the
expansion of their global partnership agreement. This expansion builds on the
successful third-party hardware and software agreement between both companies
for ARM-based technologies from Sharp Microelectronics and the SuperH®-based
technologies from Renesas. Additionally, Nu Horizons will now offer Logic's board
level products based on the low-power AMD Geode X86 and Intel PXA270 Xscale®
microprocessors.
Logic's
product-ready embedded computing products are an off the shelf hardware and software
solution that enables Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to immediately begin
software application development, which typically reduces their time to market
by six to nine months. OEMs can focus on their core competencies, such as sensors,
algorithms, and software applications, which typically provide the source of market
differentiation and success.
"Nu
Horizons possesses the experience, global reach, logistical capabilities and design
solutions necessary to ensure our customers have the right tools to be successful,"
said Troy Kopischke, executive vice president for Logic. "Customers will
leverage these integrated offerings to simplify their product development and
accelerate time to market."
Dave
Bowers, president of Nu Horizons distribution division adds, "The mutual
goal of Nu Horizons and Logic is to provide design solutions that exceed customer's
expectations. Nu Horizons' ability to deliver those solutions is now enhanced
by the addition of Logic's System on Module and Single Board Computer products.
Logic's integrated product development services may be leveraged by customers
seeking time to market efficiencies. Logic provide configurable, off the shelf
technologies and design services, which enable customers to get to market faster."
