Designed to shorten product development times, lower costs and improve product quality, Nu Horizons announces a development platform for design engineers.  Unlike traditional stand alone board solutions on the market today, the Engineering Solutions Platform consists of a highly functional main board that has the ability to add additional application specific development cards.

Intended to enable engineers to accelerate their design cycle timeline, the Engineering Solutions Platform provides the designer with a hardware platform to develop, prototype, verify and test their designs before they are finalized.  The Engineering Solutions Platform also allows an engineer to evaluate specific architechtures, test HDL code, and replicate portions of the Engineering Solutions Platform design to enhance, simplify and reduce the time to design completion. 

The first in a series of Development Card Solutions addresses the Xilinx Virtex II FPGA.  The density range covered in our Engineering Solutions Platform solution is 250K to 1 million gates.  The Engineering Solutions Platform VII Development Card has enhanced system memory and lightning fast DSP through a flexible IP - Immersion fabric.  Additionally, significant new capabilities address system-level design issues, including flexible interfaces with signal integrity.  With MicroBlaze (Xilinx) support on board, there is a soft processor that is a true 32-bit processor supporting a 32-bit or 16-bit bus.  The core of the processor is a standard RISC-based engine with a 32 register by 32-bit Lut RAM-based (fast) Register File, with separate instructions for data and memory access.
