MELVILLE,
NY - (September 26, 2000) -- Nu Horizons Electronics
Inc. (NASDAQ: NUHC) today introduced the voxbox
IP Development Tool, a system that enables network and
telecom equipment providers (OEMs) to rapidly design and
deploy VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) solutions.
The development kit is powered by the CompactPCI motherboard
technology of Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW), the world's
leading supplier of commercial Internet servers. The kit
is the only SPARC/Solarissolution suite designed
to address the specific needs for VoIP development.The
Gartner Group forecasts that the total VoIP market will
grow to $11 billion by 2005, with motherboard content
accounting for approximately $5 billion of the total market
potential. "The agreement with Sun positions us to
jointly meet a sizable and fast-growing demand for solutions
that enable a faster, more efficient deployment of VoIP
applications. The agreement is also consistent with our
strategy, which has always focused on leveraging development

voxbox will be sold and marketed by Nu Horizons and Sun
jointly. Nu Horizons currently has 26 branches throughout
the United States with more than 200 sales people and
35 Field Application Engineers. Sun's OEM force consists
of more than 150 sales people and 75 Field Application
Engineers. The
voxbox contains all the components necessary for immediate
development of VoIP applications. At the core of the system
is SUN's CP1500-360 CompactPCI motherboard and SolarisO/S.
The box also employs a Performance Technologies T1/E1/J1
WAN board (cpc380) and a Blue Wave Systems (NASDAQ: BWSI)
ComStruct DSP board (cpci/c6400). It is offered
in a portable chassis with a 235-watt power supply and
