Distribution Agreement Addresses Communication Market Segment

Demands for High Reliability Systems

NY - December 17, 2004 - Nu Horizons Electronics Corp. (NASDAQ:NUHC), a leading
distributor of high technology active components, today announced an agreement
to distribute the complete line of power devices from Smart Power Systems, a global
manufacturer of power protection devices. This agreement is effective immediately,
and establishes distribution rights in North America to address customer communication
market segment demands for high reliability systems.

Horizons is a Sun Microsystems Channel Development Provider, selling Sun servers,
workstations, storage and software to original equipment manufacturers (OEM's).
