VSC7280/7281
- Octal 3.25 Gb/s SerDes with XGMII and XAUI Interfaces
The
VSC7280 is a flexible serializer/deserializer (SerDes) with eight parallel-to-serial
channels that can be configured to support a wide variety of applications.
The
primary application is as a dual XGMII to dual XAUI transceiver for use in 10
Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Fibre Channel applications, however each parallel-to-serial
channel can be configured to support a number of applications with data rates
ranging from 0.95 to 3.25 Gb/s. This device is ideally suited for connecting between
high speed serial backplanes or optical modules and common 8-bit or 10-bit parallel
interfaces found on many of today's ASICs.
The
VSC7281 features a single XGMII parallel port that can be switched between one
of two XAUI serial ports. This feature provides for primary and redundant (failover)
connections in systems that require a high degree of failure protection or system
monitoring. As with the VSC7280, the XGMII interface can be configured as independent
parallel-to-serial channels that can also be switched between primary and redundant
serial output channels.
