This ½ day workshop is an introduction to the Virtex^™-5 FXT platform of FPGAs from Xilinx, the industry’s first FPGAs with embedded PowerPC™ 440 processor blocks, high-speed RocketIO™ GTX transceivers and dedicated XtremeDSP™ processing capabilities.  It is the fourth platform in the 65nm Virtex-5 family and delivers high performance while enabling designers to reduce system costs through integration.

This workshop provides an overview of the embedded industry-standard PowerPC 440 processor block and the high-performance, low-power RocketIO GTX transceivers.  The lab uses the Xilinx ML507 board in conjunction with the Xilinx Embedded Development Kit (EDK) to create a PowerPC 440 processor system with DDR2 memory and Auxiliary Processor Unit (APU) coprocessor.
